What to say if you are afraid to go to sleep or feel lonely and depressed

What to say if you are afraid to go to sleep or feel lonely and depressed

  "أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ غَضَبِهِ وَعِقَابِهِ، وَشَرِّ عِبَادِهِ، وَمِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ". 113.

'A'oothu bikalimaatil-laahit-taammaati min ghadhabihi wa 'iqaabihi, wa sharri 'ibaadihi, wa min hamazaatish-shayaateeni wa 'an yahdhuroon.

I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, from the evil of His slaves and from the taunts of devils and from their presence.

What to say after completing the prayer

What to say after completing the prayer

"أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ (ثَلَاثاً 3 times) اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ، تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ".

66. 'Astaghfirullaaha Allaahumma 'Antas-Salaamu wa minkas-salaamu, tabaarakta yaa Thal-Jalaali wal-'Ikraam.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah (three times) . O Allah, You are Peace and from You comes peace . Blessed are You , O Owner of majesty and honor.

67. Laa 'ilaaha 'illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in Qadeer, Allaahumma laa maani'a limaa 'a'tayta, wa laa mu'tiya limaa mana'ta, wa laa yanfa'u thal-jaddi minkal-jadd.

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, He has no partner, His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is Able to do all things. O Allah, there is none who can withhold what You give, and none may give what You have withheld; and the might of the mighty person cannot benefit him against You.

All what you need to know as a fresher

All what you need to know as a fresher.

Big congratulations to the admitted ones, the journey is not easy but you finally made it, to EKSU

And those that are yet to be given God will remember your, don’t give up, keep praying all will be well

Read to the end because the point listed here are very important, don’t glance through read it well

This post is for fresher’s to guide them so that they won’t repeat the mistakes most fresher’s made when they gained admission

Remember them and follow them diligently you will have no problem in EKSU
You are probably going to find out about these things later on, but its better you know them on time,

1. Your Courses

Its very important that you know the courses you are supposed to offer on time, so you don’t attend classes that are not meant for you, or miss classes that are meant for you.

The best way to know the courses you are supposed to offer is make use of your departmental handbook, this handbook contains all the courses you are supposed to offer from your first year to your final year.
The only problem is you may not be given the handbooks as soon as you resume, the solution to this problem is to have good relationship with your senior, they know the in and out of the school and the courses, don’t be shy, and am sure they will glad to help you

2. Your Class Governor

Your Class Governor is similar to a Secondary School captain but with some differences obviously, Your Class Governor of your Department is usually elected by your fellow Course Mates, for Example if you are in Computer science 100L your cou will be elected by 100L Computer Science Students.
It’s very important that you don’t overlook or underrate this election process because your Class Gov will be deciding the fate of the whole Department.

So just make sure you are involved in electing a competent Class Gov, you might even choose to be the Class Gov for your Department but be warned it’s not an easy job.

If your department already has one just make sure you have a personal relationship with this person, when I say “personal” I don’t mean anything weird so don’t get it twisted.

3. Attendance

Attendance is something you should never play with in Eksu, especially at your level, Most Lecturers give free 10 marks just for perfect attendance and trust me ten marks can save your soul in Eksu.
The people with the best attendance are not necessarily the people who attend the most classes, they are just the ones who sign the most attendance sheets, so make sure you don’t miss out on signing attendance sheet.

If you’re in class and you don’t sign attendance, it will be assumed that you were not in class.
This is the reason why I encourage you to have a personal relationship with your Class Gov because he/she will be in charge of getting and sending attendance sheets to Lectures, also make sure your department has attendance sheet as soon as possible and keep your signature consistent.

4. Class

More than 50% of what you do in class is what shows up in your text or exam, take classes seriously especially Mat101 and Mat103,or any other calculation course, make sure you can solve everything done in class on your own.

5. Lab

You won’t be allowed into any Lab without your Lab Coat , prepare your lab coat from home
So take note of Lab Days and make sure you have your materials ready.
Attendance in the Lab is also very important.
Also make sure your Laboratory Reports are submitted on time and make sure it’s well written; if possible use your best handwriting, because each Lab Report has its own score, which will be added to your final Lab Score at the end of the Semester, and it will determine your overall grade.
Also listen to the Lab Technologists carefully, not all repeat what they’ve said before, even what they said at the beginning of the semester you might not hear till the end.

6. Past Questions

Some Departments like repeating Questions, Studying past questions is one hack most Eksuites use.
Make sure the Department is notorious for repeating questions and also do your normal reading because they might just decide to set new questions

7. Learn How to Calculate your GPA

When you resume you will be hear Lectures talk about GPA or CGPA.
GPA stands for Grade Point Average while CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average.
Your GPA is basically your Semester Result; while your CGPA is what determines the class of degree you will be graduating with and also what determines if Eksu is going to withdraw your admission or probation

8. TAKE YOUR GST SERIOUS

GST(general studies) is a very important course for all 100l irrespective of ur field, GST111 (communication in English) GST113 (Nigeria people and culture) GST115 (ICT) this courses are 2units each and it is 7am lecture from Monday -Wednesday, more of a reason why this course were taken silently by fresher’s they are too lazy to wake up early.., I will advice you to take it very serious because it will go a long way in boosting your GP, it easy to pass and also easy to fail.

9. Read

It should go without saying that you have to read a lot!, after all anything worth doing is worth doing well and University is usually a once in a lifetime opportunity, do your best to come out with a good degree that won’t make you feel like you’ve wasted your time.

10. Learn Something Good From Your Peers

Its very likely that the majority of things that you are going to learn in the University will not be in the traditional classroom setting, its also likely that you are going to be in a class room with all kinds of people – Geniuses, Programmers, Instrumentalists, Singers, Dancers, Athletes, Good People, Bad People, and so on.

The things you learn from these people may actually affect your life more than the course you came to study in eksu….. You can choose to learn, The Good, The Bad or even The Ugly.

I would advice you to learn something good from your peers, the people you choose to learn from don’t have to be in the same level or department.

11. Plan For Life After School

University might just be the last thing your parents or Guardians will sponsor in your life, after University most parents will assume they have given you the basic tools to succeed in Life, so just have that at the back of your mind

12.The Most important, Know God

After attending all the classes and signing all the attendance sheets, and reading the unreadable, and writing exams, the most important thing at the end of the day is where you will spend eternity.
The absence of Light is Darkness; do you have the Light of God? Stay close to your God and pray after every Exam, because your Test/Exam Script can easily be misplaced. It’s not common in Eksu but it’s possible.

Stay strong and be courageous!

Call off strike - NANS urges ASUU and ASUP

Call off strike - NANS urges ASUU and ASUP

ASUU and ASUP have been urged by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to call off their strike.

NANS’ Public Relations Officer, Bestman Okereafor made the appeal in a statement - Okereafor noted that NANS had begun tosuspect that the ongoing ASUU/ASUP strike was politically motivated

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has urged members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) to call off their strike. “NANS is passionately appealing to ASUU and ASUP, in the spirit of love and reconciliation that Christmas brings, to call off their strike ,’’ NANS’ Public Relations Officer, Bestman Okereafor, said. Okereafor made the appeal in a statement on Monday, December 24, in Enugu. He noted that NANS had begun to reason and suspect that the ongoing ASUU/ASUP strike was politically motivated.
"If not, why embarking on strike when the general election is fast approaching? “We challenge ASUU/ASUP to prove our suspicion wrong by shifting grounds in the best interest of Nigerian students. “We call on Federal Government to put the enemies of this government to shame by doing the needful in meeting the demands of the striking unions,’’ he said. According to him, the leadership of NANS feels that the agony and unhappiness being faced by Nigerian students is as a result of the ongoing ASUU/ ASUP strike. “NANS at this point has exhausted its appeal and consultation approaches to reach ASUU/ASUP leadership, we are left with no other option rather than the 3rd C, which is the confrontational approach.” The association, therefore, called on ASUU/ASUP and the federal government to resolve the lingering issues before Jan. 1, 2019. He, however, noted that NAN’s attention had been drawn to a release issued by a group, TRAYSCO to mobilise, support and vote Adekunle Akinlade as Ogun state governor. According to NAN’s image make, the assician was also aware of the decision of TAYSCO to do same fir the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari as president come 2019. Okereafor said that NANS aligned with TRAYSCO Director-General, Olusegun Clement in saying “no to those trying to truncate the great achievements of our dear Mr President.” According to Okereafo, Buhari has given Nigerians “the best of developmental governance. “President Buhari has also showcased selflessness in tackling insecurity and corruption.”

Some tips to become an excellent student

HOW TO BECOME AN EXCELLENT STUDENT

Being an excellent student has more benefits than just getting good grades. In the short term, it will make you a more appealing college candidate and, in many cases, can earn you some fairly hefty scholarships. Big picture, the skills you learn at school will stick with you for the rest of your life, helping you tackle any problem that comes your way.

BE PREPARED

Take everything you need with you to class. It would be a good idea to take books, folders, pens, pencils, homework, review sheets, highlighters, sticky notes, bookmarks and anything else you need. Make sure you have everything ready every night.

GET ORGANIZED

Staying organized in school is extremely important because if you are organized, you are one step ahead in being successful. A good way to start off is to keep a folder for each subject. By keeping a folder, it means that you put your math papers in your math folder, your Language Arts papers in your Language Arts folder, your science papers in your science folder, and so on. To make this easier, use color codes or label your folders and place them into either your desk or backpack neatly. This way, you will have an easier time searching for your folders and will have more time to review what you have learned yesterday. If you like, you can also place bookmarks in all of your folders to make them easier to be found when you take your folders home.

PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS

When a teacher is giving a lesson, take notes from their lecture and if you don't understand something, raise your hand and ask questions. The more questions you ask, the smarter you'll get, believe it or not. Taking notes will help you think and help you understand what is being taught more so be sure to take notes even when it is not necessary for the classroom. The teachers expect you ask questions and form an impression of you based on how willing you are to do so. Concentrate on staying focused. Keep your eyes on the teacher, keep your ears open, and keep taking notes.

AVOID DISTRACTIONS

Do not distract others and don't be distracted by them. May your friends will be talking or passing comments. Do not give attention there otherwise, you will be distracted. If friends are distracting you, don't be mean! Just tell them you are working and say that you really want to focus on the teacher and maybe you will talk later during recess or lunch. They'll understand and may even feel the same way themselves.

ASUU vows to sustain ongoing strike

ASUU vows to sustain ongoing strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, yesterday in Lagos vowed to continue the ongoing six weeks strike that has grounded the public universities. Speaking at a press briefing held at the University of Lagos, UNILAG, its national President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi lamented that the Federal Government was not serious with the negotiations it had between the Union and the Federal Government representatives. He urged the Federal government to demonstrate serious commitment to implementing the spirit and letters of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement as well as the resulting 2013 MOU and 2017 Memorandum of understanding He said: “The Federal Government should demonstrate serious commitment to implement the spirit and letters of the 2009 Federal Governmental /ASUU agreement. “It should also consider the implementation of the 2013 and 2017 Memorandum of Understanding, MoU it had with us.” According to him, implementing these agreements would go a long way to reposition university education and bring a rapid transformation. “All we are asking for is the improved infrastructural development of Nigeria’s public universities to be globally competitive,” he explained. You will recall that the Union representatives last week walked out of their meeting with the Federal Government representatives, making it the sixth meetings without a compromise between the duo since the commencement of the strike November
